As far as strangeness goes with Dunusa, I think the one thing that stands out to me or at least could be read as such , as strange is proximity,

how close everything is

how there are fruits being sold right next to hair extensions, there's music, there's food, someone is going through clothes, someone is having egusi for lunch, someone else is having beef stew,
